Roleplay Rules

1. Be courteous to other players. If you have a problem, contact an admin BEFORE it gets out of hand.

2. Keep it legible.
Chat/txt/1337 speak is not allowed on these forums. Posts containing it will be deleted and the user given a warning. The only exceptions are if it is relevant to the roleplay, ie if one character is sending a text message to another. We are lax about swearing, but excessive use is frowned upon, and certain words may be censored if there are complaints about offensive material. As of this posting, this forum censors no words, we're hoping to keep it that way.

3. Do not god-mod (controlling another player's character or performing an action impossible for your character) For humor purposes, you're allowed to step in occasionally as the Creator or Almighty Author and do something normal characters can't do, but don't abuse this ability.

4. All roleplay posts should be at least three sentences, including dialogue. If you don't think you can manage that, try to roleplay via messenger or Chatzy, and then post the transcript.

5. Roleplays should be marked as 'Open' or 'Closed.' Open roleplays are roleplays anyone is free to jump into, you don't have to ask first. Closed roleplays require that you send a PM to the user who started the thread. If you're starting a closed roleplay, please provide a list of what information you want a user to provide upon requesting to join, such as character they're using, how they feel they can add to the RP, etc. Normally, an open roleplay will be just for fun, while a closed one may be more serious or have a set storyline.

6. Be sure everything is properly formatted. If you need help, please contact a moderator or admin after looking through the formatting guidelines.

7. When using color, try to use the same color for each character. Try not to switch colors around too much.

8. Keep every post from a storyline in one topic. Cross-posting is allowed. We do this to keep things neat.

9. Please note that you may find offensive things on this site. If something really offends you or your character, do not keep playing and complain about it. You can walk away at any time.

10. Have fun! This is usually on a lot of rules lists as a gimme, but in this case it's absolutely true. Fact: no one is MAKING you roleplay. If it starts affecting you or your personal life, it is understandable to back off. Also, please note that, in general, people are not their characters. Sometimes characters will say something their creators would never say. Try to differentiate and enjoy!

11. We aren't responsible for your content.
You're responsible for what you post. If we find a post that breaks the rules, we will delete it, possibly without warning. However, you are still responsible for what you say, link to, and share on this site.

12. Protect your information.
Your real name, phone number, home address, and other personal information should be kept to yourself. If you give this information out, we aren't responsible for what other users do with it.

13. Post in English.
This isn't discrimination, but as of this moment we don't have any way to moderate posts in other languages. So please, keep it in English.

14. Watch what you say.
Slanderous, hateful, racist, terrorist, or abusive posts will be deleted, and the user considered for banning from the forum.

15. No Mature Content. Mature posts (those that have a rating of NC-17, involving explicit and/or graphic sex) are not permitted on the forum. Clearly marked links, however, are. For instance, you may write the scene and post it somewhere else such as Livejournal and place a link in the appropriate part. Links must be accessible by everyone, however: don't Friendslock your posts!

The rules may be changed without warning.

Here's what happens when you DON'T follow the rules, either on your RP board or the general forum rules.

1. For the first offense, you will get a warning via P.M.

2. For the second offense, you will be warned on the board itself and banned for a week.

3. On the third offense, you will be permanently banned.
